As I was taking a walk the other day, I was reminded of the story of the woman in the Bible who had the issue of bleeding. She convinced herself that if she could touch the hem of Jesus’ cloak, she would be healed.
She made her way to Jesus squeezing past the crowds, until she was able to touch his cloak 😊. Amazingly, Jesus felt her touch amid the thronging crowds, and asked the question “who touched me?”
It’s a profound story of hope, faith and focused determination. More than that though, I have had so much time to reflect on spirituality and being steadfast in faith even when the storms of life are rocking my boat hard!
Ironic as it may sound, tribulations are a part of the training of life. Personally, I tend to feel better connected to people who have been through “stuff” in life. This last year has taught me the meaning of walking by faith and not by sight. I have also learnt that God is interested in our obedience and not our intellect. I have tried to reason with him in so many issues going on around me, but I am steadily reminded by the good book that obedience is better than sacrifice.
The oxymoron between truth and trust, strength and weakness, victory and being paralysed is evident in our everyday existence. And really, life is one big oxymoron anyway, come to think of it.
So as the year ends, I am going to be more intentional in my gratitude towards the universe for blessing me with everything that I have. I will not apologize for being me. I will expand my horizons and treasure everyday for what it is.
And one last thing….have the focus of that woman in the Bible, who’s only desire was to touch His hem.
May blessings follow all of you in your journey of self discovery, and while you are at it, please love yourself for who you are, everyday.
